Bubble Trouble
This Halloween, 2018 VIVA Award-winning artists Hannah Jickling and Helen Reed will launch the new public artwork QA CHEW’S BUBBLE TROUBLE, a limited-edition gum and the latest sweet in the their ongoing Big Rock Candy Mountain residency. The fruity and “surprisingly earthy” flavours of the gum were developed with local students at Queen Alexandra elementary school. The gum will be distributed for free on Halloween across Vancouver’s busiest trick-or-treating neighbourhoods. The launch coincides with the opening of a group show at Western Front, Mouthfeel (Nov. 1 to Dec. 15), featuring Jickling and Reed as well as works by Dina Danish, Diane Borsato and more.

SPARK Animation 2018
Show some love for the little guys — as in animated short films. SPARK Animation will feature many 鶹ýӳshorts, particularly in the “Made in Canada” program, including Amanda Strong’s Biidaaban, which won Best B.C. Short at VIFF’s B.C. Spotlight Awards. Fire up your Compass Card and get ready to ride into Halloweekend with the 12th annual SkyTrain Halloween Party. This is the all-ages, good times, on transit Halloween party that brings all the Halloween merriment right onto the SkyTrain.

Hot Dog Water Picnic
No, your eyes don’t need checking. Hot Dog Water is real (well, inasmuch as any water touting miraculous health benefits is real) and you can sample it this weekend as part of this performance art pop-up. Serving as a sort of counter-event to the posh and pricey “In Goop Health” wellness summit, Hot Dog Water will give you food for thought right outside the venue. And if you want to shell out $37.99 for a bottle of water infused with a single wiener, well, that’s on you.
