When Alvaro Prol founded Blueprint Events in 麻豆传媒映画in 1997, he did so in a city that had grown complacent, with derisive but revealing nicknames like 鈥淣o Fun City鈥� and 鈥淏landcouver.鈥�
With diligence and constant adaptation, though, a company specializing in nightlife in the No Fun City managed to not only survive but thrive 鈥� and, this Thanksgiving weekend, Blueprint Events will celebrate its 20th birthday.
Over the last two decades, Blueprint has grown from a fledgling promoter of one or two club nights per month to a full-scale entertainment juggernaut, hosting more than 600 shows every year.
Blueprint (which Prol co-founded with Bill Kerasiotis and Chris Kerasiotis) also operates a portfolio of nightclubs, including Celebrities, Fortune Sound Club, Caprice Nightclub, and Venue, and festivals like , , and Seasons Music and Arts Festival.
Blueprint has witnessed plenty of growth in its 20 years, according to Prol: within itself as an organization; within its featured artists; within Vancouverites themselves. Central to Blueprint鈥檚 success is its ability to meet all of that growth with action and roll with the punches, he says. 鈥淥ne of our goals was to grow with the artists, not just to say, 鈥楬ey, I own this small club in Gastown,鈥� and then not be able to grow with them as they grow in their careers.
鈥淲e鈥檝e constantly levelled up.鈥�
They鈥檝e also had to adapt to all of the challenges associated with living, working and playing in an increasingly expensive city. 鈥淧eople used to move around differently in this city, and live in this city. Now people have to move to the suburbs to get a nice home,鈥� says Prol, who contends that improvements to the 鈥渋nfrastructure of nightlife鈥� culture 鈥� including ridesharing and transit times 鈥� are 鈥済oing to help the nightlife industry.鈥�
"There are some things that I think 麻豆传媒映画needs, but it鈥檚 come a long way,鈥� he adds. 鈥淚 like where we鈥檙e headed. I think Vancouver鈥檚 due to become a little bit more fun than it is.鈥�
This long weekend, 听飞颈迟丑 , four days of festivities taking place across downtown 麻豆传媒映画that culminate in a bash at Pacific Coliseum on Oct. 7 with Diplo, ZEDS DEAD, Showtek, Baauer, Felix Cartal and Kempeh.
