With bookings at some of the most acclaimed stages and festivals Sasquatch! Music Festival, New Yorks Governors Ball and Squamish Valley Vancouver's Bear Mountain has been gaining considerable recognition for its debut album, XO

Front-man Ian Bevis talked about the album as he and the rest of the Bear Mountain were driving to their Rossland show.

Q: How would you describe XO?

A: People describe it as nostalgic. I think of it as a hopeful utopian future.

Q: What was the process in making the début album?

A: A lot of sitting alone in a room. Everything usually starts in my laptop and then we just jam it as a band and play it together until it kind of gets to a place where we are happy. Together we create this amazing force that we all just want to put all of our energy into.

Q: Top highlights since the album release?

A: A record label brought us to New York to meet with them [Our track] Two Step made it to number one on Hype Machine, that was pretty rad, and we are also playing another [festival] called Camp Bisco, which is an electronic music festival and the lineup is just wild. Its like the Shambalah of the East Coast.

Q: For those who come to see Bear Mountain live, completely blindfolded, what can they expect?

A: Lots of dancing. We are a band that likes to go to a lot of shows, so we are trying to create the show that we, ourselves, would want to go to.

Bear Mountain will be at the Biltmore Cabaret on March 21. You can buy tickets at . For more information on the tour visit
