The Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival has revealed the remaining artists booked for this year鈥檚 event.
Joining headliner Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats at Deer Lake Park on Saturday, Aug. 11 are percussive folk group The Rural Alberta Advantage and singer-songwriter Nikki Lane.
Led by bandmates Amy Cole, Paul Banwatt and Nils Edenloff, The Rural Alberta Advantage has been featured in Spin Magazine, Pitchfork, The New York Times and Rolling Stone. In 2012, the band was nominated for two Juno Awards, and, in 2014, it won the CBC Music Prize for Best Independent Artist, according to a press release.
Fans of Neil Young and Tom Petty as well as Lana Del Rey and Jenny Lewis, meanwhile, will find Nikki Lane鈥檚 鈥渧intage Sixties country-pop swagger鈥� appealing, notes the release.
Also scheduled to hit the blues fest stage are Texas-based soul band The Suffers, Begonia and Amythyst Kiah.
Tickets are on sale now for the family-friendly event, which features a full day of music, food vendors and activities for people of all ages.
Gates open at 2 p.m. and the show starts at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $50 each or $180 for a four-pack (plus service charge). Day-of-show tickets are $60 each. Kids 12 and under get in free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
