The TD Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Jazz Festival will be more accessible than ever this year, announcing today that it will feature 150 free concerts this summer.
The marquee annual festival is set to kick off on June 22, with performances scheduled at several venues throughout the city. It is consistently one of Vancouver’s most popular events, with annual crowds numbering in the hundreds of thousands.
The free concerts are slated to take place at Granville Island, the Ironworks theatre, St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church, and various locations on the North Shore.
In addition to these events, two major free outdoor concerts will take place during the festival. This includes the opening weekend of June 23 and 24, when the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Art Gallery and Robson Square will play host to the Downtown Jazz Weekend.
The same locations will see the David Lam Park Jazz Weekend close out the festival on June 30 to July 1.
There’s no shortage of artists set to entertain fans at the free events. Some highlights include bhangra band Red Baraat from Brooklyn, British singer Gwyneth Herbert, and Grammy award winning percussion duo Ghost Note.
In total, over 300 concerts will take place at 35 venues during the festival’s 10 day run. Fans can learn more about the festival, including specific performances or where to get tickets, at .  Â
