To be honest, it takes a lot of willpower for us not to use such unimaginative phrases as “spices up” or “heats up” when describing what the 12th annual 鶹ýӳLatin Film Festival will be doing to local theatres Aug. 28 to Sept. 7. That said, this year’s edition spotlights the films of Chile including a retrospective on Manuela Martelli, one of the most recognized Chilean actresses, who will also be in attendance. Other highlights include Argentinian romantic comedy Lion’s Heart, the Mexican satire Workers and Roberto Fiesco’s documentary Quebranto, which explores family, gender identity and nostalgia in Mexican society.
