Things get weird at the Cinematheque when it presents From Within: The Films of David Cronenberg April 3 to 13, 17 to 30 and May 2. The complete retrospective of film works by the celebrated Canadian director includes the newly restored director’s cut of Videodrome starring James Woods and Deborah Harry (!), Scanners, The Fly, Dead Ringers, A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, among others. The opening night screening of Videodrome also features and introduction by Ernest Mathijs, UBC Film Studies professor and author of The Cinema of David Cronenberg: From Baron of Blood to Cultural Hero.
