Vancouver's annual District Elementary Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Trout Lake (Victoria Drive and East 19th Avenue). If the weather holds, this event will attract more than 2,000 students from the city's public elementary schools. Courses are laid over the park's open fields and running trails. Courses vary in length depending on the age of the competitor: students in Grade 1 to 3 run a 1,200metre course, students in Grade 4 to 6 run 1,500m and Grade 7 students race over 1,900m.
