WeekAhead: Italian Day on Vancouver's Commercial Drive

Commercial Drive is Vancouvers original Little Italy. On June 10 from 12 until 8pm, La Dolce Vita will hit the street with food, entertainment, fashion, a childrens area and a celebration of all things Italian.

Commercial Drive is Vancouvers original Little Italy. On June 10 from 12 until 8pm, La Dolce Vita will hit the street with food, entertainment, fashion, a childrens area and a celebration of all things Italian. there will be a bocce court, Italian-inspired food contests, grape stomping, pasta and watermelon eating and pizza tossing. Entertaining the crowd will be showman Federico Fuoco, singer Carmelina Cuop and Vancouvers patriarch of traditional Italian music Gianni Fuoco. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­fashion designer Rozemerie Ceuvas will host a fashion show of Jacqualine Conoir and JAC Collection. Theres also a chance to win a trip to Rome with a five-day stay at a Tuscan wine estate as part of a fundraising raffle. Please note: Commercial Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic from 3rd Avenue to Parker Street. .

Before you head over to Commercial, drop by the Italian Cultural Centre at 3075 Slocan Street to watch the Azzumi battling Spain in the European Cup championship on the large-screen TVs. The game is live at 9am and tickets for the breakfast are $16 for adults, $8 for children younger than 12. Advanced tickets are required for the breakfast (call 604-430-3337 to reserve) but you can cheer on Italy for free.
