Vinyl Café comes to The Cultch September 6 and 7

When Dave Cooked a Turkey aired on Stuart McLeans Vinyl Café, a new Christmas tradition was born. Just as some CBC Radio listeners cant let a Christmas Eve pass without hearing Alan Maitland read The Shepherd, listening to all the ways Dave bumbles his way through the holidays is part of the joy of the season. This fall, McLean is celebrating the release of his 10th book a new collection of Dave & Morley stories: Revenge of the Vinyl Cafe. October also marks the release date for his new four-CD collection: Christmas Pack. Canadas favourite story teller will be at The Cultch on September 6 and 7 at 7:30. The show will feature two brand new Dave and Morley stories and live music. Ticket are $55 (adults) and $35 (students 18 and younger). Luxury car weekend September 8 and 9 at Van Dusen Gardens

Who said that luxury car shows had to be only about the cars? At last years event, Real Housewives Jody and Reiko enjoyed the garden party and fashion show, two features that will be making a popular return at this years event at Van Dusen Gardens on Sept. 8 and 9. And yes, there will be dozens of cars to ooh and aah over. Faeries Ball September 8

You might think faeries and goblins, imps and trolls, dwarfs and pixies are cute, but In The House Festival thinks they are the source of ribald fun, too. Youre invited to strap on your hottest wings, show off those sexy pointed ears, put on your best knit cap and flit over to Sideshow Studios (15th W. 2nd) on September 8. There will be live performances and fantastical creatures, lots of laughter and wicked dancing. Doors open at 8 pm. Show at 9 pm. Tickets are $18 or $15 if you show up in costume. .
