Dozens of 鶹ýӳemployers are gathering later this month with the goal of hiring over 700 new employees to the local workforce.

The Journey to Employment Hiring Fair will take place in North 鶹ýӳon May 16. The event will feature some of the province’s largest employers, including the Aquilini Group, UPS Canada, Vancity, and Canada Post.

The fair is a result of a partnership between YWCA Metro Vancouver, Squamish Nation Employment and Training, and the Tsleil-Waututh Nation Skills Centre.

A variety of sectors will be represented in an attempt to reach the hiring goal. These include employers from the retail, service, trades, banking, and hospitality industries, among others.

Organizers are billing the fair as open to people at all stages of the career ladder. “Whether hoping to find their first job or a new career direction, job seekers will find a wealth of exciting opportunities,” said a press release from YWCA Metro Vancouver.

The unemployment rate in B.C. currently sits at 4.7 per cent. This marks a record low for the province, and is currently the best mark in Canada.

The job fair is scheduled for Wednesday May 16, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. It is a free event, and will be located at the Pipe Shop at 115 Victory Ship Way in North Vancouver. Organizers are encouraging online registration, as demand is expected to be high.
