Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police are warning the public after four recent purse-snatching incidents involving elderly women on the East Side. The most recent occurred Tuesday morning (July 3) in the 100-block of Templeton Drive when a 74-year-old woman was approached by an unidentified white man, approximately 6' tall and between 20 and 30 years, who demanded her money. When she refused, he slammed her head against a dumpster and stole her bag. The woman was taken to hospital and treated for contusions and possible neck strain.
The attack follows a similar violent robbery June 30 of an 83-year-old woman in the 800-block of Kamloops Street, another on June 14 in the 2900-block of Venables Avenue and a third April 30 in the 3000-block of East 2nd Avenue.
Police are advising seniors not to carry large amounts of cash with them, to keep their keys and ID in their pockets and to walk with friends or family, if possible. Anyone with information about the attacks is urged to call 6047173200.
