Vollet, who has more than 20 years of executive experience in both the private and non-profit sector, is expected to help guide the ongoing redevelopment process of the West End hospital.

"I look forward to collaborating with the community, Providence Health Care and our physicians, staff and researchers to support St. Paul's current and future needs."

CAMPUS ORIENTATION
New students heading off the Langara College this fall have the option of taking a different kind of campus tour after it became the latest school to appear on Google Maps' Street View project.
Two Google vehicles mounted with special cameras, along with a smaller tricycle able to go down some of the narrower paths and walkways, toured the campus last May and the result was finally uploaded yesterday (Sept. 6) allowing people to get interactive, 360 degree views of the campus online.
"The Langara community is very excited about becoming part of the Street View project," said spokesperson Ian Humphreys. "This map provides an innovative tool for new and prospective students to explore the Langara campus, as well as for the families and friends of our students to have a look at the college if they can't make it to campus for a visit."
Langara joins UBC and Simon Fraser on a growing list of nearly 100 international university or college campuses to be mapped by Google. The Street View project was first launched in May 2007, in several cities in the United States, and has since expanded to include cities and rural areas worldwide.
SHANGRI-LA MOVES UP
The tallest building in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is now officially home to its swankiest hotel. The Shangri-La Hotel Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»has been handed a prestigious AAA Five Diamond award and so far is the only hotel in the city to meet the high standards of American Automobile Association judges.
"The Five Diamond recognition is one we accept with humility and pride," said hotel general manager Vito Romeo in a press release. "It is tremendous recognition of our hotel facilities and amenities, but more importantly of our staff, who are dedicated and passionate ambassadors for the Shangri-La brand, the city of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and our hospitality profession."
The newly built Alberni Street hotel is now one of only 126 hotels and 53 restaurants across North America and the Caribbean to receive a Five Diamond rating.
The only other establishment in British Columbia is the Four Seasons Resort in Whistler, which earned the distinction in 2007.
