The Illuminares Lantern Festival 2011 is looming and lantern-making workshops are running now until July 30, the day of the spectacle that happens this year at Harbour Green Park in Coal Harbour and Canada Place. Community members can also sign up to be part of a theatrical flash mob and work with a professional theatre director, choreographer and costume designer to create an interactive performance that will be presented at the Illuminares, which is in its 22nd year. The Illuminares procession starts at 5 p.m. in the park at the foot of Bute Street and ends outside Canada Place with interactive art and performances. For more information, see publicdreams.org.
