Vancouverites are invited to discuss what healthy water means to them at the Water is Life event, Sunday, May 19. Speakers include Chief Bill Williams of the Squamish Nation, Celia Brauer of the False Creek Watershed Society and Dr. John Richardson, professor of forest science at the University of B.C. Topics will include beaches, creeks, salmon, sewers, tankers in Burrard Inlet and the return of herring to Howe Sound. The gathering will include presentations, question and answer sessions and breakout discussions. Jeremy Williamss film Rise of the Salmon People will be screened. Everyone is welcome to the free event that runs from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Roundhouse Community Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews. Water is Life includes snacks and ASL sign language interpretation.
