The earthquake, tsunami and nuclear melt-down that thrice devastated Japan one year ago presents several lessons for British Columbia, including prevention, reconstruction and the use of social media during and after a natural disaster. The Centre for Japanese Research at the University of B.C. hosts a free three-day workshop March 14 to 16 at the Institute of Asian Research (1855 West Mall, UBC). The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Hirokazu Tatano from Kyoto University's Disaster Prevention Research Institute. For more information, visit bit. ly/ubcjapanworkshop.
