Taking shelter in a Pacific Avenue bus stop Thursday afternoon, a former construction worker waited out the rain before cashing in what he said was roughly $170 in recyclable cans and bottles.
The man declined to give his name but said he hasn't been able to hold down a job since seriously injuring his back. He supplements his income by visiting two 鶹ýӳneighbourhoods twice a week on mornings before recycling is collected.
“My dad always told me to build up,” he said about the vertical, cardboard-constructed tower he manufactured to haul an expanded load on a shopping cart.
