Burnaby choirs and singers are being invited to add their voices to the Big Sing.
The Big Sing Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is presented by the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Cherry Blossom Festival and the Canadian Music Centre during this year’s festival. It’s set for Saturday, April 27 at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Art Gallery Plaza.
Director Kathryn Nicholson will conduct community singers of all ages in four pieces: Cherry Blossoms for You and Me, by Tom Landa and Robin Layne; Susan Aglukark’s O Siem, The Beatles’ Here Comes the Sun, and the Navajo chant Now I Walk in Beauty.
Choreographer Kelly McInness has created simple choreography to accompany the festival song, Cherry Blossoms for You and Me.
Rehearsals to run through the songs and the dance moves will be held in April at four locations around the region: April 7 at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam; April 14 at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver; April 16 at the Pipe Shop at the Shipyards in North Vancouver; and April 24 in the atrium at Surrey City Hall.
The Big Sing Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»builds on the success of last year’s inaugural Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Sings One Song, which drew 350 voices from more than 30 registered choirs, aged three to 83, out to sing.
It’s open to singers of all musical backgrounds and skill levels, and it’s free – . For details, check outÂ
