Q.E. Park

The Bloedel Conservatory and VanDusen Botanical Garden host a show by the Sculptors' Society of B.C. on now at the conservatory through March 17. Celebration of Nature - Flora and Fauna is a group exhibition featuring more than 45 individual works under the dome at the conservatory.

Garden director Harry Jongerden says Prentice Bloedel's original gift to the city was not just the conservatory, but also Vancouver's most famous and valuable sculpture, Knife Edge: Two Piece by Henry Moore, located beside the iconic dome. The exhibition's sculptures are produced in a variety of materials, including bronze, copper, marble, granite, serpentine, exotic woods and terracotta. Fifteen society members are represented in the show, many whom have pieces featured in permanent collections, including the United Nations office in Yerevan, Armenia, and Ottawa's Museum of Nature. Little Mountain

For those of you not exactly buoyed by the province's new Family Day holiday, fear not for Kris Elgstrand's Social Anxiety Hour: F is for February event should be just what the doctor ordered.

Feeling anxious? Got the February blues? Elgstrand advises you, "get your sorry ass down" to Little Mountain Studios for an evening of self-deprecating songs, over-sharing, malaise and mirth with some of the city's most anxious talent.

Elgstrand will perform from his Songs of the Sad Sack, Volume 1: I'm So Disappointed. Commiserators include Arabella Bushnell, Brad Dryborough, David Milchard, Christina Sicoli and guest musician Ross Smith. There will be tap dancing.

F is for February takes place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17, at Little Mountain Studios, 195 East 26th Avenue at Main. Tickets are $10 at the door. For more information, visit socialanxietyhour.com.
