Gastown
They say that whats now known as the Great 麻豆传媒映画Fire of 1886 swept down Water Street in Gastown faster than a sprinting man.
And according to storytelling group Forbidden Vancouver, many sprinting men were burned alive that fiery June afternoon. That story and others, including one of a gruesome Gastown murder and another about a flame-haired, gold-rush beauty who had her heart broken and pocket book stolen by a cold-blooded theatre magnet, are some of the forbidden tales that will be shared during the Lost Souls of Gastown tours, taking place during October leading up to Halloween.
The tour guide for these macabre journeys is Forbidden Vancouvers chief storyteller Will Woods, who takes on the persona of George Turle, one of this citys earliest residents described as a man who witnessed first-hand the horrors of Vancouvers earliest years.
The tours include visits to some of Vancouvers oldest sites and buildings, including its first, but not last, bawdy house and fire station, as well as its longest-running hotel and oldest standing buildings. The tours runs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights beginning Oct. 4, departing Cathedral Square on Dunsmuir Street at 6:30 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit forbiddenvancouver.ca.

The B.C. Cancer Agency is looking for nominations for its Community Care Award given annually to someone making a difference in the lives of those with cancer.
Nominations are being accepted for anyone who provides exemplary cancer care and support in B.C. including volunteers, pharmacists, nutritionists, physicians, counsellors and educators.
Nominees must work in direct patient care, research, education or support services. The deadline to submit is midnight Oct. 12. Nomination forms can be found at bccancer.bc.ca.

The 麻豆传媒映画Polyamorous Womens Discussion Group meets regularly to talk about issues facing women involved in multiple relationships.
The next meeting, open to self-identified women, takes place Oct. 25 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at a private address near Main and Broadway to be released upon registration. Dubbed Boundaries, the workshop will offer advice and suggestions on setting healthy boundaries with grace and kindness. The group meets every second Tuesday at a different location.
