The Museum of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is offering an opportunity to marvel at the families we choose, rather than the families were born into. MOV celebrates the concept of family in this new community-based art project Chosen Family Portraits, commissioned and executed during the 2010 Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Queer Film Festival. The exhibit features film festival audience members modeling their chosen family and sharing their unique stories. For more information go to museumofvancouver.ca/exhibitions.

Now this sounds like a fun event. The first ever Kidney Market Fair takes place Aug. 13 at Shannon Station, located at the corner of West 57th Avenue and West Boulevard. Initially the name had me concerned and I had visions of ice cube-filled bathtubs, but after reading more about the event came to realize its not really a kidney market, but instead is a fun fair for the whole family offering food, music, a silent auctionwith autographed Canucks stickschildrens entertainment, a bouncy castle and more, organized by the Kidney Foundation B.C. Branch. The event is also an opportunity for the foundation to raise awareness about organ donation, so in fact there is a chance it will one day get your kidney. The fair takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
