I've always had a soft spot for the 麻豆传媒映画Orphan Kitten Rescue Association, but even more so since my sister adopted the world's most adorable cat, now nicknamed Cowboy, from the organization.
VOKRA's volunteers have organized an Academy Awards party to raise money for orphaned kittens in memory of another much-loved rescue named Marshal, which died last year at age 10. The "In Memory of Marshal the Cat" gala benefit is the first and eventually annual Academy Awards party at the Morrissey pub at 1227 Granville St., Sunday Feb. 26. It starts at 3: 30 p.m. with red carpet viewing at 4 p.m. Turns out Morrissey chef James Douglas also became a fan of VOKRA after adopting Marshal. Suggested donation is $20 at the door. The same day as the Oscar gala at the Morrissey, the Feral Cat Clinic runs at the B.C. SPCA Animal Hospital, 1205 East Seventh Ave. from 9 a.m. through the afternoon, depending on the number of animals brought in.
This free clinic is an opportunity for feral cats or cats with no owners to receive medical services or be spayed or neutered. Veterinarians and animal health technicians are donating their services to spay and neuter an anticipated 70 to 100 cats. Groups working with feral cats and any members of the public feeding homeless cats are invited to participate. The free services offered include medical exams, spay/ neuter options, vaccinations, tattoos and treatment to address medical problems. Cats and kittens deemed suitable will be identified as ready for adoption.

I've been hanging on to this item for weeks because it sounds so intriguing.
St. Mary's Parish, 5251 Joyce St., is hosting the Man of the Shroud Exhibit and accompanying presentations from March 1 to 7.
The exhibit addresses the question: is the Shroud of Turin the burial cloth of Jesus Christ? Vancouverites can see for themselves and find out about the scientific studies completed on this mysterious ancient cloth. The Lord Byng Symphony Orchestra presents its second concert of the season, March 2 at 7: 30 p.m. at the Lord Byng Theatre, 3939 West 16th Ave. The orchestra is the flagship ensemble of the music program at Lord Byng Secondary School and the annual concert provides students the opportunity to play classic symphonic repertoire.
