What do Juice Newton, the Manhattan Transfer and Trooper have in common?
They're just part of the eclectic line up of artists appearing at the PNE this summer as part of the Summer Night Concert Series. The concerts are free with gate admission to the PNE.
The line up includes every genre of music known to modern man. (I just made that part up.) But where else do you have the opportunity to see Lifehouse, Olivia Newton-John, Tower of Power, Heart, Emerson Drive, Down With Webster and Rick Springfield, whose biggest fan works in the Courier newsroom and knows all the words to "I Wish That I had Jessie's Girl." (I'm talking to you, Cheryl.)
That's just to name a few and doesn't include the artists performing as part of the WestJet Family Fun Series, which includes acts such as A Lamb Chop Celebration, Doodlebop's Musical Playdate, Greyson Chance and Shawn Desman.

VANDUSEN BOTANICAL GARDEN
The B.C. Fuchsia and Begonia Society is hosting its annual show and competition at VanDusen Botanical Garden on Oak Street at West 37th, Saturday July 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is your chance to see more than 300 fuchsias, begonias and many other shade-loving plants in one room.

GRANDVIEW WOODLAND
Girls rock and they're ready to prove it.
Girls Rock Camp is a summer camp for female youth aged eight to 18 aimed at build community and self-esteem through rock and roll.
Over the course of a week, female campers form a band, learn an instrument and write a song. They also attend workshops led by female mentors on topics including songwriting, stage presence, screen-printing, and being your own roadie.
The week finishes with the ultimate experience of playing an all-ages live show in front of an audience of family, friends and screaming fans. The Girls Rock Camp 2012 Showcase takes place at 3 p.m. July 14 at the Rio Theatre, 1660 East Broadway.
Girls Rock Camp Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is a registered non-profit and is part of the Girls Rock Camp Alliance, an established community of camps across North America. Tickets are $10 and are available at Audiopile, Red Cat Records or at the door.
