As costs of living in Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»appear to be on the constant rise, finding ways to reduce energy and save on bills can make a difference to overall household expenses. From now until June 15, residents who replace their clothes washer with a high efficiency model can not only get a $100 rebate, but lower their energy costs in the future.

Clothes washers are the second highest water consumers for a typical home, following toilets, and use around 13 per cent of household water. Not only can a high-efficiency washer save on electricity, but it can save up to 64,000 litres of water.

Through a joint initiative between many municipal governments, including the City of Vancouver, and BC Hydro, those eligible for the rebate can purchase an approved clothes washer before June 15. Qualifying appliances

After purchasing a new washer and sending in a receipt, BC Hydro will issue the rebate cheque.
