More Superstore and T&T Supermarket workers test positive for COVID-19 in Metro Vancouver

One store in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­now has three newly-confirmed test-positive employee COVID-19 cases.

Workers at major grocery chains operating in Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). 

New confirmed virus cases have been announced for people working at stores in Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Surrey.

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of Real Canadian Superstore provided an update to its  on Dec. 2. 

The affected stores are as follows:

  • Real Canadian Superstore, 3185 Grandview Highway, Vancouver: The last day the three team members worked were on November 19, November 20 and November 23, respectively.
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 1301 Lougheed Highway, Coquitlam: The last day the team member worked was on November 24.
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 7550 King George Blvd., Surrey: The last day the team member worked was on November 28.

Additionally, T & T Supermarket, which is also owned by Loblaw, updated its own  to include a new in-store test-positive instance. The affected store is as follows:

  • Coquitlam Store -  #2740-2929 Barnet Hwy: Associate tested positive; last working day was November 21 and has been in quarantine for the last 10 days.

As a result of a series of test-positive cases among its Coquitlam store employees, T & T has closed the location on Barnet Hwy from Dec. 2 through 4. 

"The virus situation at [the] Coquitlam store is unsettling," said T & T CEO Tina Lee, "so we are determined to stamp it out."

Lee continued: "It's time for our Coquitlam store staff to take a break, and for the company to take even stronger measures."

T & T will conduct a deep cleaning and sanitization before re-opening on Sat. Dec. 5. The closure will allow staff to be tested, if needed, and for the store to be cleaned. 

None of the stores indicated above are considered coronavirus public exposure locations by either Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Coastal Health or Fraser Health.
