More Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­grocery stores report staff COVID-19 infections

The new store worker infections are part of the case count in the hard-hit Fraser Health region.

Four store employees at the Real Canadian Superstore at 2332 160 Street in South Surrey have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

A handful of grocery stores operating in Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­have posted new staff member coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, adding to a growing count in the Fraser Health region.

Sobeys, Inc, the parent company of Safeway, Thrifty Foods, and franchisor of discount grocery chain FreshCo, indicated April 20  that an additional employee at one of its Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Safeway stores has been confirmed as having COVID-19. That case is as follows:

  • Safeway - 6401 120th Street, Delta: The last day the employee worked was on April 17

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, and other local chains, provided updates to its  on April 20 indicating cases at the following stores in the Lower Mainland:

  • Real Canadian Superstore - 2332 160th Street, Surrey: The last day any of the four infected team members worked was on April 11, April 13 and April 16
  • Real Canadian Superstore - 3000 Lougheed Hwy, Coquitlam: The last day the team member worked was on April 13

While T&T Supermarket is owned by Loblaw, the Canadian Asian grocery chain lists its COVID-19 cases separately . However, T&T has not posted any new cases in British Columbia since April 15.

None of the above-listed stores have been placed on Fraser Health's coronavirus "public exposure" notification page.
