North Shore residents notched almost 100 new cases of COVID-19 in the last week of data provided by the
Between Aug. 15 and 21, there were 96 new confirmed cases – 72 in North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and 24 in West Vancouver, up significantly from the previous week’s tally of 54 and 10 respectively.
According to the latest vaccination statistics, 90 per cent of North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»residents had received at least one dose of vaccine by Aug. 24 while West Vancouver/Bowen Island residents trail behind, at 85 per cent. Both regions have been adding about one per cent to their total per week since midsummer.
Across the province, the number of new COVID cases continues to rise, – 68.4 per cent of all cases in the two weeks leading up to Aug. 23. Those with one dose accounted for 9.7 per cent and the remainder, 21.9 per cent, were “breakthrough” cases in fully vaccinated residents. For those in hospital, the numbers are starker, with 77 per cent of COVID-19 patients being unvaccinated, with partially vaccinated (eight per cent) and fully vaccinated (15 per cent) making up the remainder.
