COVID-19 public exposure warning issued for Yaletown boxing studio

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Coastal Health is warning clients of Rumble Boxing's Yaletown location that they may have been exposed to COVID-19 earlier this month.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Coastal Health (VCH) is warning clients of a Yaletown boxing studio that they may have inadvertently been exposed to COVID-19 while getting their sweat on earlier this month. 

The health authority on Friday, Jan. 22 added Rumble Boxing to its current  According to VCH, the potential exposure took place at the 968 Expo Boulevard fitness studio during its opening hours, between Monday, Jan. 11 and Monday, Jan. 18.

While public health officials say the potential exposure event is believed to be low risk, VCH asks anyone who visited Rumble Boxing during the above times to self-monitor for symptoms of the coronavirus. There is no known risk to anyone who entered the studio outside of the specified date and times. 

Last weekend, the boxing studio—which also operates a second location in Calgary— informing clients that a staff member had recently tested positive. 

"To maintain transparency and ensure we’re holding the highest standards in keeping our Rumble Community safe, we’ll be voluntarily closing our Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Yaletown studio for 48 hours or until further notices are received from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Coastal Health. This temporary closure starts Sunday Jan 17th, 2021 at 2pm," the notice read.

"This decision comes as a result of a positive case identified with one of our staff members on January 14th, 2021. We have taken every precaution and have diligently followed all guidelines and direction provided by VCH."

The post continued, "While we have not been instructed to close, we feel this is the best course of action to keep our Rumble Community safe."

According to the statement, studio staff planned to spend the next 48 hours conducting "a deep sanitization" of the facility. â €â €â €â €â €â €

As VCH explains, the symptoms of COVID-19 may include, among others, fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, loss of taste and/or smell, and/or diarrhea. 

If those who visited a location flagged for possible COVID-19 exposure remain healthy and do not develop any of the above-mentioned symptoms, there is no need to self-isolate, and those individuals can continue with their usual daily activities. 

If one does develop any , however mild, those individuals are advised to call their family doctor or 8-1-1, seek testing and immediately .
