There are now 34,728 cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in B.C. after health officials announced 834 new cases Wednesday.
Three of the new cases were epi-linked.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reports that there have been 174 new cases of COVID-19 in the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Coastal Health region, 529 in the Fraser Health region, 20 in the Island Health region, 66 in the Interior Health region, 45 in the Northern Health region and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
There have been three health-care facility outbreaks and _ three outbreaks have been declared over. There are currently 54 active outbreaks in at long-term facilities and seven in acute care.
There have been two new community outbreaks at the Cove Shelter and Millennium Pacific Greenhouses.
There have been 12 new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 469 deaths in British Columbia.
Of the total COVID-19 cases, 337 individuals are hospitalized, 79 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation. As well, 10,201 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.
There are 8,941 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. and 24,424 people who tested positive have recovered.
Public alerts and notifications are posted on the BC Centre for Disease Control’s (BCCDC) website and on all health authorities’ websites.
“Let’s be resilient in face of this surge. United and together, let’s make an impact today through our own personal actions," said Henry.
“Without exception, follow the provincial health officer's orders in place. Remember that events, which refer to anything that gathers people together - whether on a one-time, regular or irregular basis - are not allowed for now. This includes religious, cultural or community events. Do not gather at home with anyone other than your household or core bubble."

The latest provincial health order prohibits non-essential travel in B.C., but many people wonder how often the rule is enforced, if at all.
Henry told reporters in the daily coronavirus (COVID-19) briefing Wednesday afternoon that she thinks the majority of people are doing the right thing when it comes to travel.
Plus, enforcing the rule would be a "challenge."
