Longtime Bulies will likely remember our recurring “Weird Crafts” feature, which showcased the odd and endearing ways that Canucks fans have commemorated their favourite team with arts and craft supplies.
In the past, this has included , for the sports-loving bride or Canucks-themed burlesque dancer, and adorable .
It’s been a long time since Weird Crafts has made an appearance on Pass it to Bulis, partly because fans seem to be making fewer weird crafts during these lean years. Perhaps Weird Crafts is as dated as that Simpsons reference in the headline. But I think it’s time for Weird Crafts to make its return, though the craft in this case is not actually Canucks-themed.
Instead, this is a weird craft made by a Canuck.
Made this guy
— Nikolay Goldobin (@NG078)
That is Nikolay Goldobin’s Twitter account, where he proudly announced that he “made this guy.” It appears that “this guy” is a cow made out of scraps of wood.
As scrap-wood cows go, it’s , but what it lacks in style and panache, it makes up for with folksy charm. I appreciate the added note of what appears to be a bell around the cow’s neck and the cart that it is pulling could be used to hold a planter for a couple herb plants or flowers. The nose looks disconcertingly like eyes, making it look like the cow has a weird double-face, but stop judging Nikolay’s art, you guys!
It’s a different side of Goldobin, who tends more towards sharing his love of black cars, slick hair, and sunshine on social media.
I, for one, encourage other Canucks to share their crafting skills. I want to see the Sedins scrapbooking, Chris Tanev braiding friendship bracelets, and Bo Horvat piecing together a mosaic out of broken glass and pottery. Get on it, Canucks social media team.
If you spot a weird Canucks-themed craft out in the wild, or if you made one yourself, feel free to let me know at [email protected]. It may get featured on the blog!
