Stick in Link: Rowdy Crowds at the Rog; Rodin to Return

Also, Ben Hutton censored; Juolevi wins captaincy; Hansen for sale?
Stick in Link
Stick in Link

It鈥檚 time for 鈥淪tick in Link鈥, the feature where we just plug in a bunch of stuff written by others! Featuring a smattering of links from around the Smylosphere and beyond every Tuesday and Thursdayish. Warning: our links are so hyper, they change colour when exposed to heat. (Have something for us to share in the next edition? E-mail us at [email protected] or tweet us @passittobulis. Or tell us some other way. The point is: we'll probably link it if we know about it.)

  • Did the crowd seem a little rowdier on Tuesday night against Winnipeg? There's a good reason for that. Rob Williams has kick-started something amazing: a Canucks supporters' section. They get to stand, cheer, hold up big signs, and generally make Rogers Arena a heck of a lot more fun to be in. The best part? They have the blessing of Canucks brass. Love it. Now let's get them in the lower bowl already! []
  • I'm not sure this will go over well with fans, but Jason Botchford has floated the idea of trading Jannik Hansen at the deadline. The team is not what they once were and Hansen is one of the most marketable assets. And he's 30 years old. []
  • Are the Sedins likely to enter the Hockey Hall of Fame someday? Stephan Ricochet certainly thinks so, by weight of their point totals, hardware, and uniqueness in the league. []
  • In The Provies this week, Jason Botchford talks about putting Hansen on the power play (), how much longer we go before Loui Eriksson starts taking serious flak, and a rare jersey you'll need to see to believe. []
  • What foundational players could 麻豆传媒映画target in a trade? Ryan Hank has his eye on Matt Duchene, who is apparently (and surprisingly) available. For the right price, of course; you had better believe that ask will be awfully high. []
  • The Canucks finally have their own A-Rod, but perhaps not for very long. It's looking as though Anton Rodin may be up for unrestricted free agency after this season. Hopefully management can get a good enough look to make the call whether or not to re-sign. []
  • Speaking of that, when can we expect to see Rodin in action? Soon. His conditioning stint is finished and he should be called up very soon.

  • No Thursday Stick in Link would be complete without Elliotte Friedman's 30 Thoughts. Coach Willie Desjardins is on Friedman's mind, grabbing the fourth spot on the list. Specifically, Friedman is perplexed that all of Canuck nation seems to be on constant "Willie Watch." []
  • What if Patrik Laine had landed in Vancouver? Well he'd be leading the Canucks in scoring by a long shot, for one. Iain MacIntyre, how dare you plant this insidious "what if" in my noggin? []
  • When the Las Vegas Expansion Draft rolls around, who should the Canucks expose? When it comes to forwards, according to J.D. Burke, Brandon Sutter is the fourth best centre on the team and should be exposed. (I assume that he's counting Markus Granlund as a C.) Not that I necessarily disagree, but it ain't gonna happen, J.D. []
  • What's that, you need some d'aww? I got you! A couple of junior reporters hit some Canucks players with the hard questions. []
  • Tuesday was the first NHL meeting of the Tanev brothers, Chris and Brandon. Don't mistake their quiet nature for passivity though, as Ben Kuzma reports. Neither one is very fond of losing. []
  • Janik Beichler talks Olli Juolevi. After receiving the captaincy for Team Finland in the World Junior Championships, Juolevi hopes to showcase his leadership skills. []
  • Friend and ally to Pass it to Bulis, Chris Nash, made a little something something out of a recent CBC interview with Ben Hutton. Enjoy some Unnecessary Censorship. (If this video made you giggle, good news: Nash will be doing a bit of guest posting for us pretty soon.)
