- Itās time for the leagueās mandated five-day bye week, which means the Canucks will need some help from other teams to stay in (or fall out of) the playoff picture heading into the trade deadline. []
- With no games to talk about, letās turn to the Canucksā prospects: Adam Gaudette is having a stunning season for Northeastern University, putting up 49 points in 31 games, good for third in the NCAA in scoring. But itās not just his scoring that has the Canucks excited; Gaudette has a strong two-way game, plays in every situation, and compares himself to Jonathan Toews and Patrice Bergeron. []
- Ryan Biech asks if the Canucksā should try to sign Gaudette and fellow NCAA Canucks prospect Brock Boeser before the end of the season. From the sounds of it, the Canucks want to give Gaudette another year in college, but Boeser is likely to turn pro once his college season ends and could get into some games with the Canucks this season. []
- Four Canucks found their way into Craig Buttonsā list of the 50 best prospects not playing in the NHL, starting with Brock Boeser at number 8. Olli Juolevi is at 18, Thatcher Demko at 33, and Adam Gaudette at 40. []
- Speaking of Juolevi, heās been relatively quiet this season, putting up slightly fewer points with the London Knights. But, as you can see in this highlight pack where he had two assists versus Kingston on the 19th, he still has everything you would look for in a top-pairing defenceman.
- Meanwhile, Jordan Subban is now tied for third in goalscoring among AHL defenceman after he demolished this water bottle. I am a total sucker for seeing water bottles get popped off of nets by a goal, so seeing one get wrecked like this is nirvana.

- Okay, back to reality (oh, there goes gravity) and the upcoming trade deadline. Bob McKenzie suggests the upcoming expansion draft may make it difficult to trade Jannik Hansen, as the acquiring team will have to protect him or risk losing him to Las Vegas. Iām not sure I agree; a team could just treat him as a typical trade deadline rental, as if he was an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, or simply protect him and accept the consequences. Also, he thinks the Canucks might trade Ben Hutton. I donāt like any of this. []
