GreenPAC endorsements
The New Westminster-Burnaby NDP candidate is among the candidates from five political parties who have been endorsed by GreenPAC.
GreenPAC has endorsed 35 candidates they consider “environmental leaders” and will put the environment first in Ottawa. The non-partisan, non-profit works to build environmental leadership and government action on the environment.
“These are the candidates who have shown they will stand up for our environment - candidates we should look to for strong leadership for the health of our planet,” said GreenPAC executive director Sarah Van Exan in a news release. “An MP since 2004, Peter has been a really active member of Parliament, bringing forward important environmental motions and bills in every session of Parliament on issues from corporate social responsibility to pipelines. We look forward to his continued hard work for the environment.”
GreenPAC has endorsed candidates from the Green, NDP, Liberal, Bloc and Conservative parties. Other Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»politicians who received the group’s endorsement include: former New Westminster Liberal MLA Joyce Murray (Liberal – Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Quadra); Jonathan Wilkinson (Liberal – North Vancouver); and Terry Beech (Liberal – Burnaby North-Seymour).
“Millions of Canadians of all political stripes care deeply about the environment and climate change, Van Exan said. "We have the solutions to solve the climate crisis and secure a safe, healthy and just future for all.”
According to a GreenPAC press release, the endorsements came after conducting research and seeking input and nominations from parties, candidates, environmental organizations and Canadians. Candidates’ track record on the environment and environmental justice and “winnability” were considered in the selection process, but party platforms, campaign commitments or debate performances were not considered.
