Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» is a proud media partner of Cyborg Camp YVR 2013. Leading up to the event, we will provide insight into what you can expect from this collection of experts that will discuss future of the relationship between humans and technology.
Each day we walk the streets, sip coffee in the cafes, ride the bus and weave our way through our occupations with an all-important companion that rarely leaves our side. It’s hard for many of us to imagine a life without a smartphone that connects us so inextricably to our friends, news, updates and measurements about our daily lives. But it is not that we need it for communication, we need it because we are starting to feel that it makes us more than we really are at our core. In reality, smartphones are the everyman’s cybernetic implant and our cyborg selves can go even further through the use of other technologies.
At Cyborg Camp YVR, on May 11th 2013 – - we will present experts that discuss future of the relationship between humans and technology. We’ll discuss topics such as the future of communication, cyborg technology, anthropology, ethics, psychology, philosophy, the Internet of Things, social media and design.
The Cyborg Camp conference first started back in 2008 and events have been held in Portland, Seattle and Toronto. Now it’s Vancouver’s turn to take the spotlight.
Amber Case, a researcher exploring the field of cyborg anthropology and the interaction between humans and technology, will take the stage as our keynote speaker. She has helped raise awareness about the impact – both good and bad - of our continual obsession and evolution with Technology. As a primer for those who would like to know a bit more about this area, check out Amber talking at TED back in 2011 in her video, "".
