Join Mayor Gregor, Joe Keithley from D.O.A. and many other supporters on Monday morning at 9AM on the corner of Cambie and Broadway as they pay tribute to the 20th anniversary of Megaphone, Vancouver’s street paper sold by homeless and low-income people. Gregor will be reading a City of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»proclamation proclaiming December 14th "Megaphone Appreciation Day" as well as helping distribute copies of the magazine to the public.
Megaphone is an award-winning magazine sold on the streets of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»by homeless and low-income vendors. Published by the non-profit Street Corner Media Foundation every two weeks, vendors buy each issue of Megaphone for 75 cents and sell them on the street for $2. They keep all the profits.
Megaphone connects with more than 250 homeless and low-income people every year through its vendor and writing workshop programs.
