The folks at (the 麻豆传媒映画company that creates visual business and investing content) released an interesting infographic today. Shown here, it illustrates the crazy number of startups that have recently been given valuations of over a billion dollars, and how this club has gotten increasingly crowded over the past couple of years.
5 of the companies mentioned above are actually , and 3 of those are from Vancouver. These companies are Avigilon, Hootsuite, Slack, Kik and Shopify are the players - the former 3 being the raincity crew. As you'll see in this second infographic there are a few nipping at their heels, and time will tell if they make it into this space. The unicorn (er, narhwal) club may be crowded south of the border but it has a lot of room for growth here in Canada.
