An authentic Taiwanese soymilk bar that has been in Richmond for 25 years is looking for a new owner.
Yung Ho Soy Drink, located at the food court in President Plaza on Cambie Road, serves its unique style of soymilk drink, a popular breakfast drink in Chinese culture – almost as popular as coffee is to Canadians.
“Their soymilk is very famous, because there are no other shops of this kind,” said Lisa Su, a regular customer of the President Plaza food court.
“Their soymilk has a burnt taste – some people love it and some are not a fan, but it is their unique feature.”
Yung Ho's soymilk is freshly made daily and usually served warm. The bar also offers different kinds of Taiwanese-style breakfast such as pancakes, egg rolls and deep-fried dough sticks.
The owner confirmed the shop is currently for sale, but didn’t provide any more details.
In an online post in Chinese, it stated the owner has to sell this long-time “successful” business “for personal reasons.”
“Our business has a stable customer base, long-time partners and excellent sales revenue and reputation…it also has a well-established management system and business model,” said the post.
“We hope to find a buyer that’s interested in working in this industry who can inherit and carry forward our brand and culture.”
Su told the Richmond News she hopes whoever takes over the business will keep its quality and prices. Currently, a cup of soymilk starts at $3.
