Whistler Blackcomb shifts to spring operating hours

Whistler Mountain is closed for skiing and riding until next winter, but Blackcomb remains open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m daily

With Whistler Mountain now closed for the winter, any skiers or snowboarders looking to make the most of the 17 centimetres of new snow that fell overnight were heading up Blackcomb Monday morning. 

Whistler's closure isn't the only change riders should keep in mind while planning their day at the resort. April 17 marks the first day of Whistler Blackcomb's , in effect until Blackcomb's closing day on May 22. 

Lifts are scheduled to spin from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. (That said, Blackcomb Mountain opened at 9:30 a.m. Monday, so stay tuned to  on Twitter for up-to-date information.) 

The Excalibur Gondola will be the mountain's primary upload lift for the next five weeks, accessible from Skier's Plaza in Whistler Village and Base II. Blackcomb Gondola will be open on weekends only. 

Excelerator, Catskinner, Crystal and Jersey Cream chairlifts are expected to run daily, while 7th Heaven will open pending weather conditions. Magic Chair is also closed for the winter season. "All information is condition-dependent and subject to change," the resort cautioned in  Monday. 

Spring sightseeing is also available daily, via Excalibur at a discounted rate of $20 per person on weekdays, and via the Blackcomb Gondola on weekends and Monday, May 22 at the regular price of $65 for adults, $56 for youth and seniors and $34 per child.

The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is closed until it reopens for summer sightseeing on June 10. The Whistler Mountain Bike Park will open May 19.
