With twinkling lights, artisan vendors in wooden huts, festive music, a whirling carousel, and brimming mugs of mulled wine, the annual Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Christmas Market has become one of the city's most beloved festive traditions.
Unfortunately, organizers of the German-style market say they are cancelling this year's offering due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It is with deep regret that we announce the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Christmas Market is postponed until 2021. We have worked tirelessly and exhausted all potential avenues; ultimately, we must prioritize the safety of our staff, vendors, and guests," read a from the market's team.
"Christmas cheer feeds our souls all year long at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Christmas Market, and we know just how much this annual event means to so many of you. Every year our hearts are warmed knowing how you keep us in your cherished holiday traditions, and for that, we cannot thank you enough."
The team says it is currently working on a way for fans to enjoy the market from the comfort of their homes through virtual events and updates.
Each year, market attendees can choose from a smorgasbord of savoury and sweet German foods such as German Bratwurst, Gulasch, Spätzle, Schnitzel, macarons, syrup-filled pancakes, warm roasted chestnuts, a selection of German beer, award-winning German-style wine, and so much more.
