T & T Supermarket has announced that it is reinstating temperature checks in all of its stores across Canada starting next week.

In a Facebook , the grocery store chain says that it suspended temperature tests on June 9 due to "inaccurately high readings" from the hot summer weather. Now that the weather is cooling down, the company will reinstate the voluntary policy on Sept. 14.

"For your safety, we are inviting all customers and employees to take your temperature before entering the store," writes T & T Supermarket.

Temperature check service will resume next Monday (9/14)

The company instated the original policy back in April, to try and limit the spread of the novel coronavirus among customers and staff. The non-invasive temperature checks were carried out with infrared thermometers, which scan an individual's temperature without any physical contact.

While the World Health Organization states that thermal scanners are effective in detecting people who have a fever, it underscores that .

The organization adds that there are, "many causes for a fever."
