Three pit bulls believed to have killed another dog in Kamloops's North Shore neighbourhood have been found.
City of Kamloops community services manager Will Beatty said the three dogs are now in the care and control of the city’s community services department.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
“We're compiling evidence to support or deny the claim that these these dogs potentially killed another dog,” Beatty said.
Earlier on Sunday, Sept. 8, Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said officers were called to the 6000-block of Richmond Avenue for a report of a dog being killed by three other dogs.
Shoihet said three dogs, believed to be pit bulls, appear to have jumped the fence of a residence and attacked a 12-year-old collie.
"I’ve grown up alongside you and I’m sorry it has ended this way. You were the best dog I could have ever ask for," Mark Olsen posted to Facebook.
According to police, the owner was alerted to the sounds of the dogs at around 6:15 a.m. and came outside to find her dog had been fatally injured. The three pit bills then fled the yard by jumping the fence again.
Anyone who has seen the dogs or has information about their owner are asked to contact the City of Kamloops Community Services.
