Residents living in select Burnaby neighbourhoods and who are 30 years or older will now be able to access COVID-19 vaccines.
In a statement issued today (May 6), Fraser Health says Burnaby Southeast and Southwest have now been identified as high-transmission areas.
The seven other additional communities announced today include:
- Surrey (Guildford, Cloverdale)
- Abbotsford (Rural, East and Central)
- Langley (Willoughby)
- South Mission
The 10 communities identified last month will also remain included in the high-risk transmission program. Included are:
- Surrey (West Newton, East Newton, Whalley, Panorama, North Surrey, Fleetwood)
- North Delta
- Port Coquitlam
- South Langley Township
- West Abbotsford
Anyone that is 30 years of age will be given the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

"Priority immunization for people in high-transmission neighbourhoods is one part of our strategy to manage COVID-19 transmission in our region," Fraser Health said in the statement.
"We are continuing with immunizing priority groups and locations where we are seeing outbreaks and clusters. By providing vaccine to these specific neighbourhoods, we can protect more people and help prevent COVID-19 transmission in our communities."
At the provincial COVID-19 briefing this afternoon, President and CEO of Fraser Health Victoria Lee said the health authority has the ability to administer 20,000 shots per day.
