The search for a missing Tsawwassen man has expanded across the border.
David Ho, 86, left his Tsawwassen home for a walk in Diefenbaker Park around 3 p.m. on Nov. 1, but did not return.
According to his family, he usually walks for about 45 minutes. Around 6 p.m., family members contacted Delta Police who initiated a search along with South Fraser Search and Rescue.
That search continued throughout the day on Thursday with still no trace of Ho.
Late Thursday afternoon, police confirmed that he was identified on video, walking on Marine Drive in Point Roberts. The video was taken shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday
“As a result of confirming David was in Point Roberts, the Delta Police liaised with Whatcom County to coordinate search efforts on the United States’ side of the border,” said A. Insp. James Sandberg. “Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office has been coordinating search efforts in Point Roberts since last evening.
“While we believe David is likely still in Point Roberts, we cannot confirm that he has remained there. There is a possibility that David has returned to Tsawwassen, as the area is more familiar to him. Efforts to locate David in Delta are continuing as well.”
Residents from Tsawwassen have rallied to search for Ho in Tsawwassen, as well, many residents have gone across the border to join in the search efforts. Frequent updates have been posted in the Tsawwassen Loop (NEW) Facebook page. As well, messages of support from the family have been constant.
“We ask the public to continue to keep a lookout for David on both sides of the border,” said Sandberg.
Ho is described as 5’9” tall, 150 pounds, possibly wearing a grey baseball hat, grey pants and shoes, and a darker jacket. The jacket is shown in the first photo, while the baseball hat is shown in the second attached photo.
“We further ask that the public continue to check their properties in the event David has sought shelter. He may be disoriented, tired and hungry,” said Sandberg.
Should you locate him, please remain with him, and call 911 to report his location. An officer will be dispatched immediately.
