Safety alert: Canada-wide recall for oral rinse due to 'microbial contamination'

"K. Pneumonia can cause a wide range of infections in humans."

Health Canada warns consumers that a brand of oral rinse for dry mouth is being recalled to microbial contamination.

A recall notification issued Thursday (Jan. 6) states that an affected lot of Equate Dry Mouth Oral Rise has the presence of the microorganism Klebsiella pneumonia. 

Health Canada notes that "K. Pneumonia can cause a wide range of infections in humans."

This recall involves Equate Dry Mouth Oral Rinse (UPC #6-28915-5812-3). The affected lot number of 0430552 is located on the bottom of the bottle above the expiry date.

As of Dec. 22, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the recalled product.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and dispose of it.
