RCMP have identified and arrested a 58-year-old woman in connection to an armed robbery that took place on Wednesday at a Dairy Queen in Invermere.
Investigators determined that the lone female suspect entered the restaurant wielding a hammer while demanding cash.
"That suspect exited from the restaurant, with an undisclosed amount of currency, to a nearby location where she entered into a small passenger car and fled the area," states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the RCMP Southeast District.
Columbia Valley RCMP officers travelled to Kimberley on Friday where they tracked down the woman and made the arrest.
"Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident," adds Cpl. O’Donaghey.
The woman faces several potential charges as a result of the incident.
She has been released on strict conditions and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
