A northern B.C. man has dazzling diamonds in his eyes after realizing he was richer by six figures.
Brian Chase won $100,000 on a Diamond 7’s Scratch and Win ticket, which is the game’s top prize, but first thought the jackpot was modestly smaller.
“I was scratching away and won $10, $25, and then I was scratching the Diamond ticket and I thought I won $100,” the Quesnel resident explained in a BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) release this afternoon (March 24).
“I just put my hands on the counter and stared at it. The retailer asked if I was OK. I showed him the ticket and he said, ‘You won $10,000!’ Turns out it was a bit better than that.”
After a moment of disbelief, Chase said he shared his victory with his wife, but it took a while for the news to sink in for the rest of the family.
“I am a bit of a joker with everyone, so no one believed me in the beginning. It feels awesome.”
The $100,000-winning stub was bought in Quesnel.
Chase scratched it at the gas station after his purchase.
