Nanaimo RCMP are investigating after a body was found in the ocean Wednesday off Neck Point, which borders Hammond Bay.

A person walking on the beach saw the body and called police, said Reserve Const. Gary O’Brien.

Police are unable to identify the body due to its “significant” state of decomposition, O’Brien said.

“We found several tattoos and hopefully that will lead us toward making a positive ID.”
