A parked Jazz Air Canada Express plane scheduled for a trip to Nanaimo was delayed several hours on Sunday afternoon when another plane “made contact” with it at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport.
Air Canada said the two planes were an Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319 going to Quebec and a Jazz Air Canada Express Q400 going to Nanaimo.
“While being pushed back from the gate, the Rouge plane’s wingtip made contact with that of the Q400, which was parked at a nearby gate,” the airline said in a statement. No one was injured, the airline said.
Customers on both flights were able to travel to their destinations on other aircraft.
A Q400 typically seats about 75 passengers, and the Airbus A319 between 120 and 156 passengers.
Air Canada did not immediately respond to a question about the extent of damage.
According to the Air Canada flight tracker, Sunday’s flight AC 8031 arrived at Nanaimo Airport at about 5:30 p.m., three hours later than scheduled.
