A man put his martial-arts training to use when he was threatened by a stranger with a bra on his head who was wielding a pair of knives, Nanaimo RCMP say.
Police said the 44-year-old man was walking his dog in a wooded area behind Northfield Rotary Lookout Park last Thursday about 9:30 a.m. when he was confronted by a stranger swinging the knives and trying to stab him.
The dog lunged at the man and bit him on the leg, while its owner used his martial-arts skills to incapacitate the assailant and get possession of the knives.
Police were called but failed to locate the assailant, despite help from a police dog.
The man is described as white and 30- to 40-years-old with shoulder-length brown hair, and wearing dark clothes.
Police said he left the area with a red suitcase and a red mobility walker.
The investigation is continuing, and police ask that anyone with information call them at 250-754-2345.
