Investigation underway after fatal Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Island helicopter crash

The helicopter, which had just the pilot on board, crashed Aug. 15 at Brooks Peninsula, on the west coast of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Island.

The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating the death of the lone occupant of a helicopter that crashed on northern Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Island last week.

Victoria’s Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre dispatched a CH-149 Cormorant helicopter to Brooks Peninsula, southwest of Port Hardy on the west coast of the Island, at 3:20 p.m. Aug. 15.

The 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron from CFB Comox also responded and its members recovered the victim, said Maritime Forces Pacific public affairs.
